The Role
As Head of Retail, you will lead and elevate SABA’s 19-store network across Australia and New Zealand, ensuring an exceptional in-store experience, driving operational excellence, and delivering strong financial outcomes.
This role requires a commercial mindset, strategic leadership, and the ability to inspire high-performing teams. You will work cross-functionally with Buying, Planning, Marketing, and Property to drive growth while executing the brand’s vision across retail.
With an ambitious expansion plan in motion, you will also oversee the opening of two new stores and the refurbishment of seven locations, ensuring that every store reflects SABA’s elevated brand direction.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the retail strategy aligned with the Brand’s overall objectives
- Recruit, lead, mentor and develop the retail team to foster a high-performance culture
- Set and deliver clear performance goals and KPI’s
- Create a collaborative Brand Culture which aligns the retail team to the Brand vision
2. Operational Management
- Oversee daily operation of stores, ensuring operational excellence through people, process and presentation initiatives
- Monitor and analyse store performance metrics including sales, profitability and customer satisfaction
- Optimise store rosters and improve wage controls
- Ensure consistent application of all corporate policies and procedures, including all compliance audits
- Take reasonable care for your own and others health and safety
3. Sales and Profitability
- Manage the P&L for the retail division, ensuring cost control and while maximising profitability
- Analyse financial reports to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improvement
- Develop and implement strategies to drive key retail metrics: ATV, in-store conversion, staff productivity/ hr, UPT and window conversion.
- Consistently drives sales to meet and exceed sales budgets.
- Maintain a productivity focus through top and bottom store initiatives.
- Oversee inventory management, ensuring optimal stock levels and reduce inventory loss due to theft, damage or error.
4. Customer Experience
- Foster a customer-centric culture, ensuring outstanding service and satisfaction.
- Implement and monitor customer feedback, addressing any issues promptly.
- Promoting a positive customer journey in store with well executed Brand stories.
- Implementing and maintaining highest level of visual merchandise (VM).
- Drive customer retention, customer lifetime value, repeat purchases and improve NPS.
5. Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor and develop the retail team, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Ensuring effective communication and collaboration across all levels of the business.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development.
- Assist in the project management (operationally) for all new stores across all stakeholders.
You
- Direct customer facing sales experience (+5 years) with proven sale results
- Multi-site Regional or State Manager experience (+5 years)
- Experienced driving individual sales and productivity targets
- A strong attention to visual merchandising and in store presentation standards
- Strong leadership and results driven traits
- A hands-on approach to drive change across all aspect of our retail stores
- Have a people first approach and enjoy regular time in store with your sales teams
- Innovative and problem-solving mind set
- This role will require regular local and inter-state travel; a full driver’s licence is required
